Mermaid

A beautiful creature – half woman, half
fish – the mermaid descended from
ancient traditions connecting goddess
figures with the sea – the universal
mother or womb. Mermaids are
guardians of treasures in undersea
palaces or of human beings in distress.
Medieval books of alchemy (from which
our mermaid is inspired) describe the
mermaid as the Siren of the
Philosophers, crowned and lactating the
milk of enlightenment.
